London coffee prices vary more by postcode than by quality. The ranges below are what you can expect to pay across the city — treat them as a baseline to judge a particular shop against, not as a precise average.

These are observed ranges for independent specialty shops, not a statistical survey. We are building a verified price dataset shop by shop — the coffee shop pages show what has been checked and when.
Why the range is so wide
The largest driver is rent, which is why a City kiosk and a Peckham roastery can charge a pound apart for the same drink made to the same standard. Seating, hours, staffing and whether the shop roasts its own coffee all move the number too. What barely moves it is the beans themselves.
- Central and City: the top of every range, often with takeaway-only pricing at the lower end.
- Inner east and south: the widest spread, from very cheap to very expensive within a few streets.
- Outer boroughs: consistently 30p to 60p below central for a comparable drink.
The same drink at home
A flat white at home costs roughly 25p to 50p of coffee plus about 15p to 25p of milk. Against a £4 shop price, each one you make instead saves somewhere around £3.30. Five a week is roughly £860 a year — which is the number worth knowing before deciding whether a home machine is worth it.
